SAVE MONEY, SAVE YOUR ENGINE…USE A BLOCK HEATER TIMER!

imageA block heater preheats the oil in your vehicle’s engine, enabling easier start-ups and reducing engine wear. But to get all the benefits of the block heater, you don’t need to have your car plugged in all night—just two hours will do, even on the coldest nights.

Using a timer can save dollars on your electricity bill.

Do the math: If you usually leave your car plugged in from the time you get home from work until you leave again the next morning, here’s what you’re spending in an average winter:

(14 hrs/day at 8.81 cents per kWh Dec. to Mar. )

$67.20

Using the timer to turn the block heater on for just 2 hours per day, your total winter cost:

$9.60

MONEY SPENT NOT USING A TIMER

$57.60
