Celebrating Earth Day 2012

On April 22, more than one billion people around the globe will participate in Earth Day 2012 and help Mobilize the Earth™. People of all nationalities and backgrounds will voice their appreciation for the planet and demand its protection. Together we will stand united for a sustainable future and call upon individuals, organizations,and governments to do their part.

You can visit our display on Saturday, April 22nd at the Farmer's Market from 8:00am - 1:00pm.

Kingsway School Earth Week Events:

Monday, April 16th: “Power Hour”

Each class will select one 50 min. block during the day to turn off all electronic equipment.
Students will bring “litterless” Lunches and a reusable H2o bottle.All participating students receive a ballot to win a prize. Each class will be collecting “used batteries” throughout the week.


Tuesday, April 17th:

Students bring “litterless” Lunches and a reusable H2o bottle. Used battery collection continues.


Wednesday, April 18th: “Wear Green and School Walk”

Students are encouraged to wear green clothing in celebration of Earth Day.
School will hold a 45 min walk in the field at the end of the day. Students bring a “litterless” lunch and a reusable bottle. Used battery collection continues.


Thursday, April 19th:

Students bring “litterless” lunches and a reusable H2o bottle. Used battery collection continues.
The litterless lunch draw takes place today as well as the Tally Prize for the “Used Battery Round Up”.
Prizes generously donated by EcoSuperior!

St. Ignatius School Earth Week Events:

"Get Caught Green Handed"

Students who are spotted with garbage free lunches or caught recycling will receive a ballot for prize draws.


“Go Back to the Tap”

Students are invited to take EcoSuperior’s water taste test challenge to discover why Thunder Bay’s water really is Superior!


“Lights Out for Earth Week”

The school will be hosting a 'lights out' period to reduce energy consumption.


“School Walk”

Classes are encouraged to go outside for a walk around the block.

“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”

This important message will be promoted throughout the week.
