EnviroEmployment Guidebook: Environmental Career Information For Mid-Career Professionals

By: EnviroEmployment

The EnviroEmployment guidebook is a guide to careers in the environment sector profiling 60 environmental careers. The goal of this guidebook is to provide an overview of the breadth and depth of careers in the environment sector. CCHREI (Canadian Council for Human Resources in the Environment Industry) has developed a series of guidebooks to assist Canadians in making successful decisions about their environmental career. EnviroCareers was developed for the youth audience in 1999. In response to the emerging mid-career skills gap due to increasing retirement rates in Canada, EnviroEmployment was developed. Aboriginal EnviroCareers will be released in 2004 to attract Aboriginal youth to the environment sector. Visit CCHREI's website at www.cchrei.ca for these and future projects that will assist you in developing your environmental career.

This guidebook complements the EnviroEmployment website found at www.cchrei.ca/ee, which contains more detailed and up to date information as well as, providing access to a unique video library and interactive career matching tool. The attached CD ROM contains a version of the EnviroEmployment website for those users with limited internet access.

EnviroEmployment was designed to meet the career development needs of the following mid-career audiences:

  • New comers to Canada attracted to the environment industry;
  • Environmental practitioners who may be looking to upgrade their careers; and
  • Workers from other sectors looking to transition to the environment industry.
