A Well Aware home visit, conducted by a trained Water Guide, will help you identify priorities for action to protect your drinking water source.

imageThe visit is voluntary, confidential, and non-regulatory. Non-regulatory means that the information discussed is not passed on to the government, health unit, or any other party. We will guide you through a self-assessment of your well to help identify and address potential risks to your well water. The service will assist you in competently assessing factors influencing the quality of your well water and will help you determine what actions you can take yourself, and whether you need to call a licensed well contractor for upgrading.

The service takes about two hours. All information provided during the visit remains confidential. EcoSuperior supplies a written report and recommendations, and water testing sample bottles from the Ontario Health Protection Laboratory. The City of Thunder Bay also provides a water conservation kit for wells within the city.

Our Water Guide can provide solutions to individual concerns and troubleshoot specific well and septic problems. The service includes information on groundwater basics and well construction as well as recommendations on well maintenance and upgrading, water testing, properly sealing unused wells, water conservation, septic system management and safe housecleaning products.

Well Aware home visits are FREE* of charge to rural residents of the City of Thunder Bay and the following townships: Shuniah, Gorham, Ware, Oliver Paipoonge, Gillies, Conmee, O’Connor, and Neebing. * There is a $10 fee to help cover mileage costs. (Mileage fee can be waived if you sign up a neighbour for a visit on the same day.) For more information about the Well Aware program visit wellaware.ca.
