On April 21st the OLG Casino in Thunder Bay launched their water bottle free initiative.  They celebrated the day by handing out free reusable water bottles to the patrons that day as well they invited EcoSuperior to setup a water taste testing booth.  EcoSuperior’s water taste test challenges participants to taste 3 types of water; straight tap water, Brita filtered tap water and Evian bottled water.  With 89 participants here are the results.

The OLG Casino will be providing filtered water instead of bottled water thereby saving 93 000 L of water per year.  Alan Forbes of OLG Casino spearheaded the Thunder Bay effort to enact this new policy.  “It goes a long way to support the OLG initiative to be more environmentally sustainable” says Forbes.  From the results of EcoSuperior’s taste challenge shows that over half of the OLG patrons 2 times more people prefer filtered water over bottled water.

A further initiative from OLG Casino is an electronics recycling day being held on Saturday April 30th from 10am to 3pm.  All proceeds will be donated to EcoSuperior to support its environmental programs.
