WHAT TO DO WITH THE POO?? Build a Pet Waste Digester Workshop

image

Tuesday, May 29th 6:30pm (rain date: Wednesday, May 30th)
Location: The Pet Shack (615 Squier Street - Map)

When it rains, doggie doo left in our yards and parks washes into the storm sewer system and into streams, rivers, and our beautiful Lake Superior.  Dog waste is loaded with nitrogen and bacteria, harmful to both human and environmental health. Prevent poo-llution by learning to build your own pet waste digester in your backyard at our FREE workshop! This was one of our most popular workshops last year and space is limited, so REGISTER early!

HOW:

Can't make it to the workshop? Watch the video below and VIEW (or download)the instructions to learn how to build your own digester in your backyard.  It's simple and inexpensive.

WHY:

Estimates based on Stats Canada figures show there may be as many as 15,700 dogs in our city.  Since the average dog produces about a third of a pound (0.15 kg) of waste per day, that adds up to nearly 16,485 kg of doggie doo every week!  While many dog owners are responsible pooper scoopers, a great deal of that waste is left on lawns and parks.  Dog waste is loaded with nitrogen and bacteria that can poo-lute our beautiful Lake Superior every time it rains.
