WALK the WORLD in one Afternoon
Walking is Canada’s number one sport and activity and Thunder Bay is doing its part to encourage this healthy habit. For the first time, EcoSuperior and community partners are launching a festival dedicated to walking. WALKstock, Thunder Bay’s Festival of Walking is planned for Sunday, June 10 from 12 noon to 4 pm at the International Friendship Garden at the corner of Victoria Avenue and Waterloo Street.
WALKstock will show you how to find a group to walk with, discover new walking routes using the International Friendship Garden as a hub, expand your walk with creative pursuits, learn stretches to make your walk pain-free and loads more! Admission is free, and there will be interactive displays, food, and wandering minstrels. We hope to see all ages come out, bring a picnic lunch, a water bottle, and walk with new and old friends.
Walking is good for our environment and for our health. It’s also good for connecting with nature, expanding a spiritual practice, boosting creativity and making friends. Make a date to go for a walk.
Folks are encouraged to carpool or take Thunder Bay Transit to WALKstock. Thunder Bay Transit’s Route #10 Northwood serves stops?#1253 and #1246.
