I moved to Thunder Bay from southern Ontario in the fall of 2017 to begin my undergraduate studies, and was immediately enchanted by its beauty, continuous growth, and the excitement it sparked in me. To live beside the largest freshwater lake in the world, within a community that strives to live in harmony with the landscape and all it offers – is a dream I never knew I had until I was in it! I recently graduated from Lakehead University with an Honours in Outdoor Recreation, Parks & Tourism and a Bachelor of Natural Science. I could not have been more excited to start at EcoSuperior as the Summer Program Assistant, assisting with Central Natural Environment Gardens, the invasive species program, and educational outreach including fish consumption surveys.

I grew up in a large family, and while we did not go on camping trips or travel to far-away lands for lengthy vacations, walks and bike rides on local trails, spending a night out in a tent in the backyard, and watching Monarch butterflies hatch from their chrysalis was enough to fuel my interest in outdoor recreation and nature! I am intrigued by getting to know the place you live and making the most of local nature and tourism rather than traveling far distances (which is not to say I do not wish I could see the world!), and I always love an opportunity to learn from nature! I like to get around on my own two feet and sit by any nearby body of water to listen to my surroundings or practice journaling.

I am overjoyed to be working with a respectable team of people who are dedicated to eco-initiatives both in a professional setting and in their everyday lives!
