Spring Up to Clean Up Volunteers Hit the Streets

To kick off Spring Up this year, over 75 businesses and offices took part in Thunder Bay's first ever Spring Up to Clean Up 20-Minute Makeover on May 1st at 10 am. Staff and management from more than 75 workplaces (about 750 people) all over town stepped outside for 20 minutes to clean up litter from around their neighbourhoods. Registered workplaces received Spring Up garbage bags, public recognition and Tim Cards from event sponsor Tim Hortons.

At the main launch event in downtown Fort William, there were speeches by City Councillor Andrew Foulds, Victoria Ave. BIA representative Jim Hupka, and Litter Free representative Jim Bailey. At 10 o'clock, the 20-Minute Makeover was kicked off with music by local musicians Jim 'n' I.
