Tips for a green and safe clean-up
GREEN:
-
Walk, cycle, ride the bus or carpool
to your site
-
Bring snacks and drinks in re-useable
containers
-
Use garden or work gloves, instead of
disposables,
or use a disposable on one hand and
carry a bag in the other
-
Sort the litter into recyclables and
garbage
-
For large groups, smaller bags or
containers can be used for collecting
litter, then used to fill Spring Up
bags
SAFE
-
Wear sturdy, closed-toe footwear, long
pants, gloves and sun protection
-
Keep a solid container on hand for
sharp objects or hazardous waste, such
as household batteries (these can be
taken to the Hazardous Waste Depot).
Pick up only with proper protection and tools. See If you find a needle page regarding safe pick-up of needles and reporting for collection
-
Report large items (tires, car
batteries, appliances, etc.) to
EcoSuperior so we can arrange to have
them picked up (please call Karen at
624-2148 and give specific details
about items and location)
-
Keep extra water and a first aid kit on hand
Notice: EcoSuperior and the City of
Thunder Bay provide support for
community-wide litter clean-up efforts
during Spring Up to Clean Up, in the
form of bags, gloves, prizes and public
recognition. Each clean-up group is
responsible for organizing their own
event, including ensuring the safety of
their participants.
Thank you for your participation and
your help in keeping Thunder Bay
beautiful! |
