Stream Monitoring Training Sessions

EcoSuperior Environmental Programs will be offering two free day-long Stream Monitoring Training sessions. Learn how to catch benthic macroinvertebrates with a special net, then identify and preserve them. Spend some time looking at these fascinating stream creatures under a microscope and learn what these tiny but important stream organisms can tell us about the quality of water in their habitat.

Saturday June 28 10:30- 4:30
For the amateur scientist who might like to contribute data to a provincial database. This course will focus on proper sampling techniques and accurate identification of benthos. Fieldwork component.

Saturday June 21 10:30- 3:30
For families who want to learn while 'playing' in streams. This session will focus on the identification and life history of stream creatures, and the connection between water quality and the life in streams. We'll spend time in a stream!

Lunch is included. Registration is free, but limited to 10 participants per session so register early to avoid disappointment.
