Drainage Rebate Program
The City of Thunder Bay Drainage Assistance program for 2017 has been fully subscribed. We cannot accept any more applications as of June 28, 2017.
If you wish to apply for the 2018 program, please keep any receipts for work completed this year, and contact our office in March 2018 to find out if additional funding has been provided to the program. If so, retroactive applications will be accepted at that time.
Our apologies for any inconvenience. You may wish to let your city Councillor know that this program is important to you.
Forms for download:
It’s a very easy application process--just fill out the application form, send it to us along with a copy of the associated receipts, plumbing permit and inspection report. We will schedule a home visit to confirm the work, then process the rebate provided the paperwork is in order.
Application forms can be downloaded here and are also available at EcoSuperior (562 Red River Road at Hill Street) as well as at the Building Permit office, upstairs at Victoriaville Civic Centre.
All homeowners who live within city limits may be eligible for a rebate which applies to approved measures that improve household drainage. These improvements include sump pump and drywell installation, installation of sewer backup prevention devices and the disconnection of weeping tile systems from city sanitary sewer services.
The City will determine the eligibility of properties that meet the requirements for this subsidy as listed below:
- available to existing single family residential and multi-unit homes
- property must have its eavestrough downspouts properly disconnected from City sewer system
- a licensed plumber approved by the City of Thunder Bay must be hired to install the back-flow prevention valve and a qualified contractor to undertake all other work
- building permits and approved inspections must be obtained for all other work
Rebate amounts are listed in the program brochure. Inquiries about the program should be directed to EcoSuperior, 624-2140, or ecosuperior%23org|drainagerebate Rebates will be available until funds are depleted in 2016.
